NSi Industries struggled with major challenges in its legacy backup systems. It relied on a mix of Veeam and Dell Avamar backup solutions, both of which were on-premise and lacked proper air-gapping or secure protection. This setup left their data vulnerable and far from foolproof.

The process required a system administrator to manually take backup tapes off-site. However, there was no way to validate whether those backups were complete or secure. As Lazaro Felix, Corporate Architect of Infrastructure & Cybersecurity, explained, “We couldn’t really validate that the backups were a hundred percent secure and a hundred percent complete.” This unreliable approach caused significant headaches, including failed full-image restores for SQL servers.

NSi Industries needed a better backup and data protection solution, something modern, efficient, and easy to use. That’s what led the team to Druva. Today, NSi uses Druva for server backups, Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, SharePoint, and email), Azure VMs, DRaaS, and the Accelerated Ransomware Recovery add-on. It started with Druva for endpoint backups, then added Microsoft 365 and hybrid workloads. While its data lives in both AWS and Azure, it plans to expand to Azure backups with Druva soon. The team is also looking to roll out single sign-on and explore Druva’s AI tools and Entra ID solution.
