How the power of technology can help protect children

There are organizations that really go the extra mile to support and protect the most vulnerable people — and War Child UK is one of them. The organization helps children impacted by war to overcome their experiences and have a better future. This plays such an important role in the lives of these children that it’s critical that things like the technology they use just work – and we’re proud to say that Druva helps give War Child the confidence to focus on the things that really matter. Becoming involved with War Child sparked a passion with us at Druva, as it strikes a chord into our core values and how technology can play a crucial role to change the world. The support for War Child was initiated a few years ago with our very own SVP of EMEA, Rick Powles, who introduced Druva to the invaluable work this fantastic charity provides to the most vulnerable children in the world. We’re all proud to be involved and support them as our UK charity partner.

Who is War Child?

Founded in the UK in 1993, War Child UK is a non-governmental organization which specializes in supporting some of the most vulnerable children who find themselves living through a conflict. For War Child, nothing is more important than the safety of the children it supports, the security of its staff, and the communities it works with. The teams are made up of incredibly passionate and committed individuals, who work tirelessly to protect, educate, and stand up for the rights of children caught up in war. War Child UK has programmes in nine conflict affected countries and is aiming to reach 260,000 children by 2019. The charity’s main objective is to increase the scale of work and reach more children in conflict areas, and with the help of technology, they are on the path to do this.

How Protecting Data Helps Protect Children

War Child has highly sensitive data including images, stories, and information about each other that they cannot risk anyone finding out. Further complicating matters, War Child also operates in a complex world of UK laws, EU laws, and GDPR regulations, which makes it difficult to manage and protect data seamlessly. By being able to capture, protect, and recover all data, the charity is able to have the confidence of security and focus on what really matters most: providing the best support for the children they work with. The charity is able to use Druva technology to support its mission to provide protection to children of war.

War Child is an organization that really hit home with us. At Druva, our core values are built-in to supporting the community and help changing the world through our passion of technology. We are proud to be able to provide the support to War Child to focus on delivering passion to the children, and ultimately changing their lives in a positive way.

To help raise awareness and fundraise, Druva will be joining War Child in June 2019 to climb the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales, known as the Three Peaks Challenge. Please visit our fundraising link to support.
