Life At Druva

The Druva Way: DNA, Ethos, Character, or All of the Above?

Ashish Dabholkar, Director, Human Resources

What Makes Druva, Druva?

Over the years, I have made it a habit to ask this question to Druvans in onboarding conversations, hallway chats, stay interviews, and even farewells:

  • “What makes Druva special for you?”
  • “Why do people join, stay, even come back?”
  • “What makes them feel like they belong, or thrive and become successful?”

Almost everyone said one word, “Culture.” It felt honest, but broad, and almost too obvious.

When probed further, “What does culture mean to you?” no one could quite define it. It wasn’t a slide or poster. It wasn’t a slogan. It wasn’t written or handed down. It was always something people felt, experienced, and the answers were beautifully different.

Some spoke about people. Some about trust. Some about care. Some about simplicity. Some called it a vibe, or even something as vague as “something in the air.” But for each, it was something more subtle, yet personal, that aligned with their values and sense of self.

When you zoom out and trace the arc of every Druvan who’s grown here, stayed here, or made a lasting impact, a pattern emerges. A shared rhythm in the way we work, lead, connect, and evolve. It is how we show up and what makes us, us.

It’s not just culture. It’s our character. It’s our ethos. It’s our invisible DNA.

So, what is the Druva DNA?

It all begins with putting “People at the center” with “Care and wellbeing at the core.”

What flows from there are five invisible threads we’ve come to coin the Druva DNA: I call them the 5 Cs. These are five core behaviors, five parts of our character, five reasons people say: “I love working at Druva and feel like I belong.”

1. Care: Mental & Physical Wellbeing

We care not just about how you perform, but how you feel while you do it. Wellbeing isn’t a one-off initiative or a box to check. It’s a way of life. It’s the lens through which we design experiences. Druvans show care in small, consistent, and meaningful ways. From mental health check-ins to career growth nudges, and life events to quiet support during tough days, we aim to normalize care, not just offer it. There’s no “proof needed” to be supported. No long note is required to be understood.

Care here is quiet, consistent, and deeply human.

  • Example: Care isn’t about applying for leaves, it’s how managers quietly re-allocate work, give you flexibility without you having to ask, and how teammates show up for your family like they would for their own.

2. Connect: Vulnerability-based Trust

We lead with trust that isn't transactional, it's personal and built by being open and vulnerable. It’s built over coffee, team outings, cross-functional projects, and just check-in conversations. Druvans go beyond their roles; they connect as people, not just colleagues. Through empathy and curiosity, they create a space where you can be yourself.

That is where collaboration starts. Not from org charts, but from real human relationships.

  • Example: We’ve seen this in connections that started over a one-time project and turned into lifelong friendships. Former teammates still cheer each other on, mentor each other, and celebrate personal milestones; even years after moving teams or geographies.

3. Conversations: Intellectually Honest & Authentic

We talk honestly. And we listen fully and respectfully. Whether it’s feedback, disagreement, or a vulnerable check-in, we value dialogue. Our best moments are often born from what’s said — and even more, from what’s truly heard. Druvans know that clarity is built on candid, intellectually honest conversations. They come from a genuine desire to do what’s right for the individual, and for people in general.

  • Example: Many of these conversations stem from genuine curiosity and empathy, not just to grow teams, but also to grow people. Leaders/mentors have guided career paths not by directing, but by listening, encouraging, and reminding Druvans of their strengths.

4. Communities: Belonging with Partnerships Beyond Work & Roles

We find our people and build with them. From tech guilds to leadership circles, fun clubs to interest groups, Druvans grow through community. These are not just “initiatives,” they are movements. They foster belonging, unlock partnerships, and bring joy that spills beyond the workplace.

  • Example: How a sports interest group evolved into a cross-team partnership that worked well throughout the year. Or how a casual women-in-tech connect turned into a strong peer coaching circle. These are not just feel-good communities; they are learning ecosystems.

5. Coaching: Learning Through the Climb

Druvans grow by solving tough problems and reflecting deeply. When you feel stuck, not just in your role, but as a person, contact us, and someone will show up for you. Whether it's a coach, a peer, a mentor, or a manager. Support might come through a shared failure, a thoughtful question, or a gentle nudge. Growth here is not transactional, it’s relational, and it’s real.

We push each other because growth comes from trying, reflecting, and improving together.

  • Example: At Druva, you're not boxed into a fixed path. You get to choose - to accelerate, go deep, move laterally, or take a breather. Whether you want hyper-growth or steady contribution, the choice is yours - and the rewards align with the path you choose.

Conclusion

Our culture wasn’t crafted. It wasn't handed down. It emerged from how we show up for each other every single day. Druva isn’t just built on a strong work culture; it’s held together by something even more personal: each Druvan’s character.

Collectively, this becomes the invisible DNA that pulses through everything we do, from how we build products, celebrate milestones, resolve conflict, or welcome a new teammate. It’s what gives this place its heartbeat. You won’t find it in a deck. You won’t find it in a policy. It’s not perfect. It’s not packaged. But it’s there — experienced and lived!

If you value trust, growth, and holistic wellbeing, you will not only love to work here. You'll belong here and thrive here — quietly, consistently, and powerfully!
