Medical Indemnity Protection Society identifies Druva as the ideal solution for its SaaS app data protection needs

Lisa Martin, Chief Marketing Consultant

The 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant report represented a market shift to include data protection for cloud and edge, and the Druva Data Resiliency Cloud was recognized for the first time in the report as a Visionary for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions, positioned highest for its ability to execute in this quadrant.¹

The evaluation was based on specific criteria that analyzed the company’s overall completeness of vision and ability to execute, and marks Druva’s first inclusion in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.

Druva believes its inclusion underscores its commitment to delivering a radically simplified, modern 100% software-as-a-service (SaaS) approach to data resiliency, and reflects the shifting landscape as organizations increasingly demand SaaS-first solutions to enhance business agility and transform data into a defining asset.

How to identify good SaaS when you see it

Customers choose Druva’s at-scale 100% SaaS solution over other offerings for its comprehensiveness, simplicity, ease-of-use, and efficiency. “Easy, Cloud-Native Backup Solution That Just Works For All Use Cases Out Of The Box!” — Gartner Peer Insights, March 2022.

A SaaS-based solution was exactly what Lucian Burns, head of technology at Medical Indemnity Protection Society (MIPS), was looking for to protect its Microsoft 365 data, as it would align with his group’s cloud strategy.

“Strategically, we were moving information to the cloud, but were falling short on protections like backup and data management,” said Burns. “We were looking for a cost-effective, low-touch, and seamless solution that was out-of-the-box and aligned to our strategy.”

That’s when Gartner introduced the Druva Data Resiliency Cloud to Burns and team, who conducted a proof of value with Druva. “The ability of Druva to stand up a fully functional trial system made it an easy choice for return on value, and we were able to thoughtfully evaluate the entire solution and features.”

Burns continued, “It’s easy to tell a good SaaS provider from a poor one. The good ones have a ready proof-of-concept, transparent pricing, and an approach that lets you know exactly what you’re getting, which made Druva stand out.”

Druva — The industry’s first and at-scale SaaS platform for data resiliency

The Druva Data Resiliency Cloud brings the simplicity, scalability, and security of the public cloud to enterprise data protection and management. As the industry’s first and only at-scale 100% SaaS platform, it advances an organization’s cyber, data, and operational resilience without any hardware, software, or associated complexity. Customers can protect data and gain visibility into applications across multiple locations and clouds.

Data resiliency is the next generation of data protection that is enabling companies to be prepared to stop attacks before they spread and easily recover without business disruption.

Organizations cannot solve today’s protection challenges with their existing approach to data protection, so they need to shift from “passive” data protection to “active” data resiliency. Instead of creating data copies, data resiliency positions customers to recover. Instead of waiting for an administrator to react to an outage or attack, data resiliency proactively identifies, alerts, and responds to problems in the data infrastructure. Instead of protecting from legacy threats, data resiliency protects against new issues such as ransomware attacks, insider threats, and supply chain attacks. Data resiliency revolutionizes data protection.

MIPS recovers deleted SharePoint data with Druva

MIPS put the Druva platform to test shortly after the pandemic started. Burns knew the shift to remote working would mean the company would rely on Microsoft Teams much more than before, so he migrated all SharePoint content across to Teams. It turned out that was too big of a shift for staff, so he had to quickly roll back the migration.

“We knew Teams was the answer, but we went too soon and without preparation, we needed to roll back quickly. With Druva we were able to restore everything easily and reliably to known snapshots,” Burns said. “We were able to restore our entire SharePoint data and Druva delivered peace of mind at a very stressful time for everyone.”
