About Paradise Group

Paradise Group Holdings Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based restaurant group incorporated in 2002 by Eldwin Chua and Edlan Chua. The company's restaurants serve a variety of Chinese cuisine.

The Challenge

Paradise Group’s previous backup solution, an on-prem system from Acronis, had outlived its usefulness. Keith, Head of IT at Paradise Group, and his team faced growing challenges with the system, particularly its limited on-site storage, which was rapidly nearing capacity.

Even more concerning was the absence of off-site backup capabilities, leaving the business vulnerable. "The old backup solution didn’t provide any off-site options at the time," Keith explains. "It was consuming valuable space on my on-premise server, and compute resources were limited."

Beyond storage challenges, Paradise Group faced increasing complexity in its infrastructure. As a Microsoft/Azure-focused organization, they were expanding their reliance on cloud services. The IT team needed a data protection solution capable of managing their existing VMware and shared file environments, while seamlessly supporting the backup of their growing Azure instances. They sought a future-ready solution to align with the company’s ambitious growth strategy, ensuring robust security for a public-facing organization.

The Solution

Through trusted technology partner Netpluz Asia, Paradise Group discovered Druva after evaluating multiple solutions, including Veeam. The team found Veeam to have a "security by implementation" approach, similar to Acronis, which required bolting on additional hardware components to meet recovery SLAs and address security concerns as an afterthought. This traditional approach added significant operational overhead and complexity. In contrast, Druva stood out with its fully managed SaaS solution, designed with "security by design" architecture, a proven approach that has been operating seamlessly for over 10 years.

After testing Druva’s cloud-native features, Paradise Group was quickly convinced it was the right choice. Within just one week, they migrated from Acronis to Druva, covering VMware applications, Azure VMs, Microsoft 365, and shared user files.

Druva became their sole provider for backup and data protection, delivering several key benefits. The platform’s cloud scalability seamlessly integrated with Azure, while providing flexibility to grow as their data expanded. Resilient off-site backups reduced risks associated with on-premises storage, and Druva’s intuitive dashboard simplified backup monitoring and recovery for the IT team.

Additionally, Druva’s SaaS efficiency minimized dependency on on-premises infrastructure, freeing IT resources to focus on strategic projects.

Keith highlighted, “With Druva, the cloud migration process was seamless compared to our old on-prem solution. After verifying all VMs, we moved on to user files and Azure instances. It simplified everything.”

Druva’s modern, fully managed SaaS approach is a game-changer, especially for organizations relying on traditional solutions like Veeam. By eliminating complex hardware setups and shifting to a secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-native platform, Druva empowers IT teams to focus on innovation rather than operational overhead.
