Cloud-native data protection for Azure Files

Now protect your Azure Files Server Message Block (SMB) shares—whether Premium or Standard—with ease! Our fully managed, agentless SaaS solution takes the hassle out of backups. No infrastructure, no hidden costs, just simple, reliable protection against ransomware, accidental deletions, and any business interruptions. Keep your data safe without the stress!

Key features:

  • Air-gapped Cyber Resilience: Backups are immutable and stored securely in the Druva Cloud outside your Azure tenant, providing operational isolation against ransomware. Data is encrypted "on wire" and "at rest".

  • Zero infrastructure, Agentless: Deploy instantly without managing proxy servers, compute resources, or backup agents within your Azure environment.

  • Zero egress fees: Predictable cost management is ensured by guaranteeing zero Azure egress fees for all backup and restore operations.

  • Granular protection and sovereignty: Select the protection, frequency, and retention to match the value of your data, enabling cost-optimized protection at cloud-scale. Customers control where backups are held (Azure, AWS). Druva can never access your data.

  • Flexible recovery: Perform rapid, granular recovery of individual files, folders, or entire shares to the original or an alternate tenant, subscription, region, or file share.

The offering provides robust, cloud-native protection with 11-nines (99.999999999%) durability for backup data.

Expanded Druva Azure Storage support for Enterprise Workloads

We have expanded the set of enterprise workloads that can use Druva Azure cloud storage as the primary target for backup data. This enhancement provides greater flexibility in managing backup data location and simplifies compliance with data residency requirements.

With this feature, you can now protect a range of critical workloads:

  • Azure Files: Protect Azure Files directly with backup data stored in your configured Druva Azure Cloud Storage.

  • Database workloads: Configure Druva Azure cloud storage as the backup target for Oracle Phoenix Backup Storage (PBS) and Microsoft SQL Server workloads.

  • Virtual machines: Utilize the latest CloudCache R4 to perform Instant Restore of Virtual Machines (VMs) when using Druva Azure Cloud Storage as the backup target.

This update significantly increases the flexibility of backup storage configuration and expands your options for meeting compliance and sovereignty requirements.

For more information, see Druva Azure Cloud Storage for Enterprise Workloads.

Provision Druva Cloud Storage from a centralized location

The Enterprise Workloads Management Console now provides an integrated way to request new Druva Cloud Storage, streamlining your workflow and improving transparency in cloud storage management.

With this enhancement, you can now:

  • Initiate new storage requests for AWS or Azure from the Storage page on the Enterprise Workloads Management Console.

  • Track your storage capacity requests with clear status indicators.

For more information, see Provision Storage and Configure Storage Rules.

Restore Amazon RDS Backups Across AWS Accounts and Regions

We are excited to announce seamless restores of your Amazon RDS database and cluster backups across AWS Accounts and Regions. Enable cross-account and cross-region restore to enhance resiliency and ensure data recovery.

Experience greater flexibility in selecting your encryption keys, with better access control to manage keys across multiple AWS accounts. For more information, see Restore RDS Backups.

Granular Daily & Monthly Chargeback Reports

We are excited to announce a major enhancement to our reporting capabilities. We launched a new suite of Daily and Monthly Chargeback Reports designed to provide the granular telemetry you need to build flexible, customized chargeback models and gain deep, actionable insights into customer trends.

This release includes three powerful new reports:

(This new suite complements the Customer and License Details - Daily Report, which was released in the last cycle.)

Benefits :

These reports provide granular telemetry data, allowing you to move beyond basic billing and create tailored chargeback mechanisms.

  • Flexible Chargeback: You now have visibility into granular metrics like "Frontend and Backend storage consumption. This allows you to bill customers based on custom parameters that align with your business, helping you maximize margins.

  • Deeper Trend Analysis: Efficiently monitor customer growth, identify consumption patterns, and track deployment trends directly from the MSC.

Important Note for Customer Consumption Telemetry (Daily and Monthly) reports:

  • Data for D365 and SFDC is not included in this report.

  • No historical data will be available for these specific columns:

    • For End User Products: "FrontEnd Source" and "Backend Source + Change"

    • For EWL Products: "Total Active BackupSet"

Data for these fields will begin populating from the report's release date onward.

Automate and Integrate with New Reporting APIs

To help you leverage this powerful new data at scale, we are also releasing a full set of supporting APIs for these new reports.

This isn't just about new reports; it's about new data you can act on.

This API-first approach gives you the power to fully integrate granular chargeback data into your existing workflows, saving time and unlocking new opportunities.

Transition to Cloud-Based VMware Data Anomalies

Note: This feature is under early access and is available for limited customers.

A significant enhancement has been made to the collection of Data Anomalies for VMware resource types.

The Change:

We are transitioning from the current agent-based model to a streamlined, cloud-based architecture (agentless). This enhancement provides flexible, agentless deployment for zero-touch, credential-free protection.

Key Benefits:

  • Enhanced Security: Eliminates the need to share or store root/administrator credentials for the guest VM. You no longer have to provide guest OS credentials for the Data Anomalies feature to function. This improves the overall feature adoption and customer experience.

  • Simplified Operations: Reduces operational overhead by removing the dependency on an installed agent within the guest VM.

  • Increased Efficiency: Data collection no longer requires the VM to be powered on, improving flexibility and resource utilization. Provides zero-touch UDA configuration for VMware virtual machines.

  • Automated, Efficient Data Anomalies: Zero-touch Data Anomalies configuration for VMware VMs. Data collection no longer needs powered-on VMs, optimizing flexibility and resource utilization.

  • Modern Architecture: Aligns VMware Data Anomalies with a secure, scalable, and cloud-native architecture.

For more information, see Cloud-Based VMware Data Anomalies (Agentless).
