How It Works

The Druva inSync client can be configured to detect the location of emails from Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Email or Lotus Notes. Users can initiate email backup with just one-click, without having to manually search for the files each time they backup.

Druva inSync client uses Windows Volume Shadow Copy service and Microsoft Message API (MAPI) to take a snapshot and non-intrusive backup of open files. The snapshot also ensures that the backup (and restore) is 100% consistent. Open file backup ensures that the user’s work is not affected while the backup is being performed.

The inSync client automatically scans the email client for new message and updates, and only moves the incremental and unique changes to the backup server. Data deduplication ensures that the data movement is minimal.

Example

If an email with 1 MB attachment is sent to 1000 users.Traditional incremental backup software would backup this 1 MB attachment from each of the 1000 different mail boxes.

Druva inSync only backs up 1 MB from the first user, and then skip all the other 999 copies as duplicates. This results in huge savings – over 99.9% in overall backup time, bandwidth and storage.
