Milwaukee Electric safeguards sensitive corporate data on endpoints with Druva inSync

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. is an industry-leading manufacturer of heavy duty portable electric power tools and accessories for professional users worldwide. The company has roughly $250M in revenues and over 1000 employees globally. Over 300 of these employees are mobile users that work from multiple locations and carry critical enterprise data on endpoints.

The Challenge

“Druva inSync has been a very positive experience. I recommend it to administrators looking for an easy-to-use enterprise solution.”

A growing number of Milwaukee Electric’s employees travel between offices and use mobile devices to access corporate data from multiple locations. Realizing the increased threat of endpoint devices getting lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, and the high costs of resulting business discontinuity, Milwaukee Electric’s IT group rolled out a homegrown solution for data backup and recovery. With this solution, however, Milwaukee Electric faced several challenges:

  • High bandwidth consumption: Lacking deduplication technology, the existing solution backed up entire files even if these files had minimal changes. Consequently, backups consumed significant bandwidth resources
  • Insufficient security: The existing solution did not provide enterprise-grade security over WANs
  • Intrusive experience: Users perceived the existing solution as intrusive and a hindrance to their productivity

The Solution

“We no longer worry about losing data. We know that our data is safely backed up and can be restored as needed if a laptop fails, or is lost or stolen.”

Milwaukee Electric evaluated multiple solutions and selected Druva inSync — a unified platform for endpoint backup, data loss prevention, and file sharing — to serve its mobile workforce. inSync’s simple and non-intrusive client resulted in adoption among employees while giving IT the benefit of endpoint data protection.

The Results

“End user experience is great compared to other solutions especially since 500 to 800 users can be a tremendous overhead. This challenge is easily alleviated by Druva inSync.”
