True Blood: Druva Pune’s Blood Donation Camp

True Blood: Druva Pune’s Blood Donation Camp

As part of Druva’s ongoing corporate social responsibility initiative, a Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Druva Pune office on 26th February 2015. The camp was organised in collaboration with Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, a renowned Pune hospital.

“You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” ― Kahlil GibranThe Prophet

The Druva team participated in the blood drive in overwhelming numbers. In all, we had 54 volunteers – more than had pre-registered. It was an opportunity for everyone to do their bit for society and they certainly showed their enthusiastic participation.

The camp was organized in a disciplined manner. The hospital’s team of nine doctors and nurses took good care to ensure that each donor was medically fit, checking every aspect of the individual’s health before he was deemed fit to donate blood. Refreshments were provided after donating blood.

A first time donor, Pabitra Pati, a QA engineer from the Phoenix team, said, “Even though I was a little scared initially (thinking of the pain of the needle), I felt awesome after the donation.”

Mirroring his thoughts, Nikhil Baheti, an engineer from the inSync development team, said, “My first-ever experience of blood donation turned out to be a proud and an exhilarating one. Within those 15 minutes, I realized the irony of how effortlessly we can contribute to saving lives – although sustaining one requires relentless efforts! I would suggest everyone donate blood and feel the unparalleled satisfaction that comes with it. As it is rightly said, ‘You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you surely can do something about its width and depth.’” I think I just did. (And on a lighter note, I hope my blood is somebody’s type!) ”

Each donor received a certificate of appreciation as well as a coupon which allows him or his family members to use the blood bank’s services. Additionally, since we contributed to the blood bank, Druva as a corporate entity is entitled to use the blood bank’s services for any employee, whenever required.

All through the day, there were smiles all around, a true embodiment of what we believe in: selfless service with a smile!
